OBAMA is the FUTURE, ELECTION '08

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01107/obwins_1107648c.jpg

I didn't find it a surprise that Barack Obama was elected president but what I did find out was that he seriously demolished McCain. I believe that California was exteremly happy because we are a very liberal state and I think that most of the state had voted for Obama. I believe that America electing the first African-American president showed that we are a much more diverse country and have become to more of a diversity that will help us grow as a country. And having to deal with those last 8 years with a Republic in office really messing up America, having a fresh face with fresh ideas will help put our country together. I learned that democracy does show a lot about America also because people got the right to vote and they voted for the first black president and it shows that America is more willing to give a canidate that is more worthy a chance even if being a different race. I believe that Obama being elected will open up the doors for America and make us a more together country.

WEB 2.0 blog ! :)

Web 2.0 is a lot more efficent and faster for communicating with my friends without having to call or text them because I think that the internet is a more faster and easier way to keep in touch with people because not all of my middle school friends have a Myspace or Facebook. I believe that this is an easier way to get through people because not many people like to read printed material such as the newspaper because people get most of their information and news through the internet so I believe that people will find this communication of Web 2.0 to be a lot more efficent and easier. Web 2.0 is more for the younger generation but I think that it will hit most generations soon because America is becoming a very big technology prone society. Web 2.0 is a much more easier way to communicate to my friends and get the actual media information without needing the waste of paper because it is more time efficent.

Be a Reporter game.

After the blogger game, I found out that time is a big part of the news game. You need to be the first one to be able to get the story and if you don’t then someone else will take the story first with the facts that you had but didn’t get fast enough. I think that time and efficiency is a big part of the news industry also you have to ask many questions and get really into the depth of the story in order to get all the facts. Although you need to get all of the facts, doesn’t mean that you need to be slow that you get your story taken away.

Editorial on "NO ON PROP 8."

I think that the Proposition 8 shouldn’t be passed because I find it very wrong and selfish. People should be allowed to marry whoever they want and having people is so against it because it is so wrong. If they didn’t want to get married with the same sex they shouldn’t ban it for everyone that would want to. I find that it is very selfish that people are wanting to ban same sex marriage because they think that it’s wrong for their children and what they are learning. Our society needs to become more open minded because I think that people should realize the reality of how our society is and that marrying the same sex is very common and needs to be handled or addressed. Every time I seen a yes on prop 8 poster I found it so rude and discriminating and really just wanted to destroy and take it off. I know that I should respect other people’s opinions but I feel that people should also respect other people’s rights. NO ON PROP 8 !

CONDUCTING A POLL.

POLL QUESTION:
Who do you think will most likely win the presidential poll of 2008, Obama or McCain?

RESPONSE:
When I asked a junior student, they responded with Obama, “I mean is there really any other choice?” She thought that McCain didn’t even have a chance against Obama. I found that somewhat surprising because she kind of just said that there was no point in McCain to be running.

RESULT:
Obama: 10
McCain: 0

CONCLUSION:
When I asked 10 people who they thought would most likely win I got a 10/10 response that it would be Barack Obama. I wasn’t shocked to see the response especially when polling students from our school because people especially young people were very persuaded by Obama and they are very liberal. I feel that making history was a big part in having the vote the way it is.

First article idea...

The first article I want to write about is something that has to do with sports because that is something I am really passionate about. I don't believe I would be able to write about volleyball sporting event because I would be quite biast about it although the whole point of journalism is to put your whole opinion aside and focus on the actual event happening. My first article idea could possibly be about the homecoming game or homecoming rally. Also there's a chance to do it on a home game such as the Lowell game because the crowd was quite hyped up for the game the whole time which made the game more exciting and interesting. I think that I should write about an actual game such as the one vs. Balboa this coming week since that should be a very intense game.

STUDENT ELECTIONS

The Juniors election assmebly was very hyped. Most of the speeches were drained out by the screaming Junior class so it kind of made the whole speeches pointless because I couldn't hear anything. Also the fact that people that weren't even running against someone had to make a speech, I found quite odd. I liked hearing the different ideas from the ASB president and Vice president. But after those, I found it pretty much pointless because I believe that after that it became a popularity contest between the Junior class president canidates. Before I had even gotten to the assembly, I already knew who I was going to vote for but listening to the ASB presidental candiates speeches were the main view I was looking for or actually willing to listen to. The assembly to me in general is sometimes pointless because most students are so hyped or too immature or anything to actually listen to the speech that they already decide who they are going to vote for before the assembly has even started. I feel that the ASB election runnings are not put up as highly as they should be because people play it as a popularity contest. The ASB presidental canidate speeches of Minh Tran and Benny Cheung were quite convincing because they both gave really good ideas about the school enviornment that weren't unrealistic which made it quite hard to chose. Secret is I voted for.... :)

What the 1st amendment means to me?

The first amendment is basically the right for freedom and pretty much everything. In english class we're discussing a lot about freedom and the american dream and for my essay I wrote that there is no existance of the american dream so therefore there is not a real existance of freedom. The 1st amendment does not hold much importance to the school it seems because we have no freedom. We cannot use our phones but only 40 minutes in the day, can't dress the way we want, can't act or talk the way we want. the limitations in school are quite narrow. It seems that although it's a freedom to do so much, it still has many restrictions. The 1st amendment does have a lot of meaning but I feel that not everyone gives you those rights that are supposedly given to us as Americans. Because this school sure doesn't and there's so many laws to restrict every little thing a minor can do. A minor has curfew because of the law and a minor cannot drive anyone under 25 in a car until they're 18. I don't think that age should have anything to do with your maturity level and we shouldn't have to be held with more restrictions just because of it. I wish that we had a lot more freedom especially when it comes to school because I feel we're being suffocated because we're not allowed to truly express who we are at/during school since of all these rules.

Saturation Report-Volleyball game vs. Mission.

The gym is filled with brown and yellow and Mission High School posters/banners everywhere with a slipper, light tan floor with a lot of lines on it. The gym is so small and has many people in it since there's not much room to sit on the gym floor, there's many people in the stands. I hear a lot of yelling and commotion, maybe because the teams are communicating. The sounds are really echoey and everyone is very active and moving. Everyone is constantly moving and yelling. It's not quiet at any moment during this. The room is extremely humid and everyone looks very hot and sticky/sweaty. The gym has 18 windows and all are closed, making the room even more stuffy and hot. The lights are very bright and the ceiling is quite high. There's not much of a smell, it just smells really stuffy. I'm sitting on the bleachers watching it from the top because there's no room to sit with the JV team.

Rest In Paradise Mark Guardado.

Mark Guardado was a close family friend so I wanted to write about this story. My dad got a call at 2 in the morning from Big Mark's nephew, Anthony Guardado, saying that he was dead and that a rival gang, the Mongals, had shot him. The story I got from his newphew was that they were outside a bar and the two rival motorcycle gangs began to fight then somehow the Mongol gang member took out a gun and shot Big Mark in the head. Big Mark was sent to the hospital where his close friend was by him the whole time. Big Mark was loved in the Hells Angel as well as the Bay Area community, he is the VP of the Hells Angels Sonoma Chapter. This tragedy mad my mom cry all night, knowing him for over 20 years. It's sad how people can't defend themselves anymore without having a weapon in hand. It's a real big tragedy and for his funeral it's going to be a huge, with Hells Angels from everywhere coming. He was deeply and loved by the whole Hells Angel community and a great deal by his family. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN, REST IN PARADISE BIG MARK. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU. <3

Current Events Blog; Bay Area's robbery increasing.

The Bay Area's robbery rates have gone up 40% since the last few years. In San Francisco and Oakland alone it's been 300,000 robberies since the year 2004. The most frequent and harmful areas happen in more crowded areas such as local BART stations, downtown, and shopping malls. There have also been many armed robberies within local grocery shopping markets and restaurants. From years 2004-2006 the Bay Area has gone up 11,264 to 15,698, and in 2007 at 15,646. Since the year 2005, strong-armed robberies have went up 9%. San Francisco's big 'hot spot' is the Tenderloins, with having 6 out of the 15 worst intersections of robberies along with downtown; Halliday Plaza and Market street. In Oakland the most frequent areas that are being robbed are Eastmont Mall, Fruitvale district, and the BART stations. The Lieutenant of San Francisco PD says that the reason these areas are being so frequently robbed is because of the quick getaways and the crowded areas.
